Police in Mubende District have launched investigations into a suspected case of domestic violence that left a couple dead in their home in Nabingola Town Council.
The deceased have been identified as Ronald Tumusiime, 37, a teacher, and Justine Kamukama, 40, a businesswoman. The two were residents of Luwesama Cell in Nabingola Town Council.
According to preliminary reports, the incident is believed to have occurred on the evening of April 20, 2026, at around 5:00 p.m.
A neighbor, Elvis Senabulya, said he became suspicious after hearing the couple’s two-year-old child crying continuously inside the house.
“I heard the child crying from the bedroom for a long time, which raised concern,” Senabulya said. “When I checked, I found the house locked from the inside. I peeped through the window and saw the bodies lying on the floor in a pool of blood.”
He immediately alerted local leaders, who in turn notified police.
Officers from Nabingola Police, together with the Mubende District homicide team, responded to the scene and forcibly gained entry into the house.
Police said there were clear signs of a violent struggle inside the residence, with several household items found broken and scattered.
“The scene indicated a physical confrontation. Both bodies had deep cut wounds, suggesting a violent altercation,” said Lamech Kigozi, the Wamala Region Police spokesperson.
Residents in the area also reported that the couple had been heard quarreling the previous night.
“We heard them arguing on the night of April 19, but we did not expect it would end this way,” one neighbor said. “We were shocked to find them dead the next day.”
The bodies were transported to Mubende Hospital for postmortem examinations to establish the exact cause of death.
Police have condemned the incident and cautioned the public against domestic violence.
“We condemn all forms of domestic violence. We urge individuals in abusive relationships to seek help from authorities and support systems before situations escalate,” Kigozi said.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
